A year ago, this trip seemed like a dream; a wonderful, romantic idea. But, as the year became months and the months became weeks and the weeks became days, we found ourselves asking one simple question: "Did we really think this through?" The truthful answer is no, because if we did we would have made the rational decision to stay home and continue on with life as usual. I suppose that's why sometimes it's better not to think too much. So, tomorrow a big old jet airliner will carry us over the ocean on a 21-hour excursion with three kids and a bunch of suitcases to a place we hadn't even heard of a few years ago. Really...what were we thinking...
PS - This is getting posted three days after we have arrived due to all of the issues you will read about in later posts.
